Pacquaio, Mayweather Fight Possible?

Recently, it's been in the news that Filipino boxing hero, Manny Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have settled the defamation lawsuit filed by Manny against Floyd a couple of years ago, so will that mean that Pacquaio VS Mayweather fight is coming near? Well, let's hope so since the boxing fans have been waiting for this to happen to finally settle the debate on who is the best boxing fighter in this era and who will sell more boxing tickets.

But before any Pacquaio-Mayweather clash, Manny will have to emerge a winner against Juan Miguel Marquez for the for the fourth time to once and once and for all finalize who's better between them. So for boxing fans out there, it's now time to save for this dream match, and perhaps be able to buy Floyd Mayweather Jr boxing tickets and Manny Pacquiao boxing tickets.

Let's Move & Let's Love

This week, while checking my email, I saw a mail from World Vision with a picture of a child smiling. According to an email, this child needs sponsor for her education. I've heard World Vision before and had a friend who sponsored a child by donating a monthly amount to World Vision. Before this week ends, I'll have my own sponsor child whom I'll help to fulfill her dreams.

When I first heard of World Vision, I was skeptical because I want that the money I'll donate will really benefit the child, but when my friend showed me the letters and pictures of the child she sponsored, I was convinced that she's really helping the kid on her education. I also saw several testimonials from other sponsored children who are now grown up and fully successful. They in turn sponsor other children, so it's has become pay-it-forward. If every one of use will sponsor a child for his education, every children in this country will surely get a degree and have a better life.

And just like the United Colors of Benetton's new perfume, Let's Move and Let's Love by sponsoring a child and making his and family's lives better.

Seafood in my Mind

One of the perks of living near the coast is having the abundance of the sea at its freshest state. Philippines is composed of more than 7,000 island and the ocean is rich so having fish, shellfish, crabs, or shrimps on the table is pretty much common or is it?

When I was young, my father and I usually woke up at 5 in the morning on weekends just to catch up with the fishermen on their small boats (bangka) for their catch of the day. For 20 pesos, we were able to buy a bunch of fish that would be good enough for lunch and dinner. During squid season, we would have squid for several days and our teeth would be black from the squid ink because our mom only knew cooking squid adobo. Crabs and shrimps were usually more expensive even today because local fishermen do not catch them or if there are some which their nets caught, it will be for their own consumption.

How I miss those early mornings wait, the smell of the sea, the views of the fishermen boat approaching the shore, the early catch of the day, my father's bargaining, the smell of fresh fish. Now, those are just memories, even I go to the beach early morning and although there are still fishermen catching fish, their catch is just enough to feed their family, so no fish for me. If I want fish, it is not the sea that I should go for, but the market in the town, where they sell fish and other seafood caught from the farthest part of the country. Hayyy... how I long for the good old days....

The Dark Knight Tragedy

For several days, I have been following reports about the Colorado shooting and I can't help but think what kind of sick person would plan and end lives of people he doesn't even know. The shooting that happened in the screening of the move The Dark Knight, the last of the trilogy of the Batman, is really disturbing, specially that the suspect is claiming that he is the Joker, a villain character in Batman, which was played by late Heath Ledger in Batman Returns.

This tragedy would make you think if violent movies should be ban forever and instead we'll just make happy movies like fairy tales, wholesome cartoons, and love stories movies, but of course, that would be preposterous. Movies are an art form and must be celebrated. With movies, our imagination is endless. How many inventions were inspired by movies that we are enjoying now? Movies are the outlet of our ideas and feelings. It is sad that it is used to cause harm and agony to others. If we only know the boundary of movies and reality, this shooting and any other killings and robberies inspired by movies would never happen.

To the victims of Colorado massacre and to their families and friends, my condolences.

RIP, Dolphy, the King of Comedy

Dolphy, King of Comedy
When I was young, the nights would not be complete without watching John and Marsha, and later on, Home Along Da Riles. Dolphy had been a part of my childhood, watching every night his TV shows and sometimes his movies on the theater. His comedy shows were the binding agent that kept my family together after supper. His movies were the treats that my mother would give me, and later my children's treat from mine. The King of Comedy had brought laughter to every Filipinos and had remained a relief to every sad moments.

Sadly, yet partly happy, Dolphy has now joined the Creator. After battling complicated health problems for months, he is now home. Thank you, Mang Dolphy for laughter and happy memories you gave to every one who watched you on TV and theater. Rest in peace.

When the Blogger's Mind Blacked Out

The unhelpful heritage vanishes.

It's been months since my last post. I wasn't busy but I just can't get myself write something to blog about. There were so many events and issues that had happened which I thought of writing about, however every time I lay my fingers on the keyboard, they can't seem to type my thoughts. Sometimes I wish that there will be an application that would translate our thoughts to written words so that I would not need to type nor put my thoughts into words.

I'm writing this hoping that through my rambling, my fingers would cooperate and my mind would put its precious(?) thoughts into writing. Ever heard of a phrase "I know it, it's on the tip of my tongue" which actually means, the brain cell that holds that information just bursts and is now dead.

RIP, Robin Gibb

Bee Gees member, Robin Gibb has succumbed to cancer after a long battle and coming out from coma. Robin Gibb who was a member of the group, Bee Gees, has finally joined his brothers Maurice and Andy leaving Barry the only Bee Gee.

I've been a big fan of Bee Gees and my favorite among the members is Robin. I've listened million times to Robin's live performances of the song, I Started A Joke, and I remember the first time I heard him sang it, I cried, and since then I listened to it from time to time.

Several years ago, I dreamed of attending to Robin's concert in Manila but unfortunately I wasn't able to attend due to work. I regretted that I didn't take the opportunity to see him live and now I will never have that opportunity.

To Robin, you will always be one of my favorite singers, and I will always listen to your songs. Rest in Peace.

Time Breastfeeding Cover Causes Debate

The recent cover of Time magazine is a picture of a 3-year-old boy, standing on a chair, suckling on his mother's breast, with the picture is a title, "Are You Mom Enough?"

There are many mothers who are raising their eyebrows with this Time breastfeeding cover. On the cover is Jamie Lyn Grumet and her 3-year-old son. She claimed that she was breastfed by her mom until she was 6 years old. She also said that many have approached her against breastfeeding her 3-year-old son and threaten to report her to child services.

Although I am a supporter of breastfeeding and I respect the mother's choice on when to stop breastfeeding, I do not find the cover pleasing to my eye, specially the title. The cover does not show that there was love in breastfeeding. It seems that the mother just stands there and bare her breast for her child to feed without even looking at him or an arm around him which could have signify that the act is an act of love. Breastfeeding is a connection of the mother to her child, not only feeding him. It is a bond between the mother and the child.

I know that Time magazine put this cover to initiate reactions from the readers, regardless it's a pro or a con. I personally believe that it is a step back to breastfeeding campaign.

Rolex Watches are a Great Investment

Rolex watches are truly great investment. Unless you honestly take horrible care of them (which shouldn't be the case since you spent so much for them in the first place) you should always be able to make your money back, if not more. Continue reading for how to sell Rolex watches and a few tips to keep in mind when it comes time for you to sell Rolex watches

Trading in Rolex watches has never been easier! If you want to sell a watch or two, no worries, there is help all around! Although it isn't quite rocket science, when it comes the time to selling high end watches, it can be quite difficult getting the whole process in order. There is a lot of thought that needs to go into preparing both yourself and your customers for the whole ordeal. It wouldn't be so difficult if there weren't any scammers out there attempting and successfully selling fake Rolex watches, but since that isn't the case it is imperative that you calm the consumers anxiety and put them at ease.

When you need to sell rolex brand watches which are very high-end and high quality, it is important that you understand how important the whole deal is. Customers and interested consumers will be trusting you with very large amounts of money, and they want to make sure that they are getting what they paid for, which are legitimate Rolex watches.

Don't be put off when you receive doubt about the legitimacy of your Rolex watches. This is common, and for a very good reason. People need to be concerned and watchful of where they spend their hard earned money and make sure that the sellers that they are dealing with are looking out for their best interest. Make sure that you have the correct documents in order, including the original receipt and make copies of all other paperwork including model number. If that doesn't satisfy them, than go the extra mile and get a personal signature from an official at Rolex stating that your specific watch is indeed a true Rolex.

After doing all these things, also make sure to take great pictures as well. Good pictures can often be the deciding factor in a deal. People want to really see the product, get high definition close-ups and really fall in love with the product. Hire a professional photographer and make your Rolex watch stand out from the rest! Let your customers know that you mean business and that you really want them to enjoy and anticipate their purchase. A Rolex watch purchase can truly be the highlight of a decade.

House Makeover Time

Living in a place where typhoons and storms are common, summer is our annual house repair season, so, this summer is no different. Last few months, the rain was really pouring and it took a toll on the paint of the outside walls. Aside from exterior wall painting, a roof repair is also on my list.

It is a good thing that we have just recently received the annuity check from our insurance . I am thankful that I am able to cash now this check that will fund my house repairs. Investing is definitely helpful in times like this, and I did not regret buying insurance.

If my calculations are correct, I may be able to afford an indoor wall painting. I'll let my kids decide what color to paint this time, I just hope they don't become crazy choosing the color.

Success and Hope Stories on Graduation Month

What I like about the month of March is the celebration of the success of many students. Every year, I read stories of students from poor and impoverished families whose diligence and perseverance brought sweet fruits of getting a degree and honors . I also read stories on how parents work hard to provide for their children's education and to see their smiles when March comes as their kids will finally receive that small paper that may change their lives.

This year is no different. I already read several success stories of poor students who are graduating with honors like the girl who will be graduating magna cum laude in Laguna whose father is a garbage collector, and another finally finishing high school after a stint in drug rehab like Jiro Manio. March seems to bring happiness and hope to every student, may it be from elementary, who are excited to lay their dainty little feet on the high school grounds to experience high school life, to high school graduates who are mixed excited and nervous of going to college, and those of college graduates who are hopeful and doubtful whether they'll get the job they want, or if they're ever going to get a job.

Whatever the month of March brings, it is surely one of the memorable moments that every one of us had and will have experienced.
To all the graduates of batch 2012, congratulations and good luck!

Another Filipina Pride on American Idol

It seems to become a trend that every season of American Idol, a Filipino at least be able to reach the Hollywood week and some more. This season, it's Jessica Sanchez, a halfFilipina and half Mexican, who this week has sung Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You, which termed to be as one of the most difficult songs. And guess what? She totally nailed it!

Not convinced? Check her out on the video below, all the judges were impressed:

Linsanity Reached My Island!

I have been reading about the Linsanity fever that took over New York, the whole United States, China, and Taiwan for about two weeks now but I did not pay attention to it as it didn't have impact on my life. However, this past few days, I heard my teenager boy talking about Jeremy Lin, the person guilty for the Linsanity, who is now the star player or "the" Cinderalla in the NBA right now. Most of the kids in the neighborhood play basketball but I never thought that they'll be also interested in what's happening in the NBA.

And as if the Linsanity hasn't spread to my household, it has also made way to the stores in this tiny island (well, not really tiny..hehehe) that when I accompanied my aunt to buy office chairs, the clerks in the furniture shop were all busy watching Lin in the latest New York Knicks match against Dallas Mavericks.

I think Jeremy Lin's story gives hope to every Asian basketball who are not really tall but talented, to be able to play in NBA and be a star too. But what made me impressed about him is that Lin has a degree, he even went to Harvard and at the same time play. If only all basketball players, or all players would be like him. He's every parent's dream. Don't you agree?

Lots of Gifts for the Heart

During Valentine's Day, I do not only give gifts to my husband but also to all my children. I just always want them to know that I think of them and that they are special so, this Valentine is no excuse. However, these past few years, I have been doing my gift shopping online. It's not only time and money saving, but I also find it the best way to keep my gifts as a surprised because I don't need to leave the house and do shopping and come back home with full of shopping bags in my hands that usually a giver for the surprise thing. Before, my kids would know if I prepared gifts for them, so when the occasion comes, they are not surprised anymore.

I started my online shopping as early as January, but February month has more Valentine's sale. I did my search for different online shopping sites, oh, boy, there are tons of them. I also read reviews of different online shopping sites like the reviews. These reviews are really helpful because they give you the prospective of which shopping sites are reliable, cheap, and secure.

Finally, after spending nights of browsing shopping sites, I completed my Valentine's gifts for everyone in the family.

RIP, Whitney Houston

I was shocked when I read the news about the sudden death of Whitney Houston last weekend. I've been a fan of her and really liked her voice and songs. It was sad that she lost her voice and she fell from glam, but she's always an icon in the music industry. I also watched her movie, The Bodyguard, with Bruce Willis, and it's still one of the Valentines movies of mine.

It's a shame that she was not able to redeem her voice, I bet she was excited for the Grammy's Awards, only not be able to wait for it. However, the Grammy's pay tribute to Whitney Houston with Jennifer Hudson singing "I Will Always Love You", which is one of the famed songs of Whitney.

RIP, Whitney Houston.

A Prayer for Cebu Earthquake Victims

I know earthquake is not new for Filipinos, just like other calamities such as flood, typhoon, and others, however every time there's a loss of life and properties, it is just sad.

Recently, Cebu and Negros Oriental had experienced a 6.9 earthquake, and PhiVolcs is probing a new fault line, I can't help but feel fear for the people who were running and confused where to hide during the quake. Philippines, though calamities-ridden, has not learned its lesson on preparing its people on what to do during these events.

Aside from a small amount of donation to Red Cross, all I can offer is a prayer for all the victims who lost their lives and properties. I pray that every thing will be fine and that God will give you strength to move on.

Blog Deleted Again by Blogger

I was surprised yesterday when after tweaking my other blog, Invest and Work at Home, after sometime, I got an email informing that my blog is deleted as it was detected as "spam". This is the second time that it happened, the first was last year.

Whenever Blogger's robot does some checking, most of the online earning sites in blogspot are detected as spam.  Yesterday, I logged in my Blogger's account and requested to review to reinstate my blog as I know that just like last time, there was just a mistake, however, I do not know how long it will take before Blogger will reinstate my blog.

Keeping my fingers' crossed x

The Artist, a silent movie that buzz

Since the Golden Globes, and the appearance of Uggie, the dog, "The Artist", a silent movie, has been making a buzz online and has been rumoured for an Oscar award. The Artist is a French film set in Hollywood 1927 and 1932 which was the transition of silent movie to talkies. It is shown in black-and-white.

The Artist is a refreshing look of an old-style movie and a change from the 3Ds and action packed or heavy drama films of today. With its nominations and wins from the recently concluded Golden Globes, and maybe several more awards from Oscar, The Artist's success and fame will make way through the cinemas outside US.

Wikipedia's Protest: Black Out Wednesday

If you'll go to Wikipedia's site right now (Wednesday, January 18,2012), the English page has been black out to show its opposition to the anti-piracy measures proposed in the United States Congress. In a statement, Wikipedia said if the proposed legislation is passed, it 'would be devastating to the free and open web.' The move is to protest against the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) Bill, which is aimed at combating issues like illegally copied films and TV content and and the proposed PROTECT IP Act (PIPA).

If the bill is passed, not only the internet users in United States are affected, but all internet users all over the world since many sites are hosted in United States, then these sites must comply to the law.

Although I am just a dot in the world wide web, I support Wikipedia's stand. NO to SOPA and PIPA!

Save with Walgreens' Prescription Savings Club

This post brought to you by Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

Many people depend their lives on medication, not by choice that's for sure but whether they like it or not, their lives are tied with prescription drugs in order to continue living. Usually, these people are also those who are not earning much, and to buy these prescription medication is really taking a toll on their finances.

When the negotiation for Walgreens and Express Script new contract was unsuccessful, many Express Script's clients who buy their medicine in Walgreens are affected greatly. Now, patients covered by an Express Scripts plan now find themselves not only having to change their pharmacists, but many are having to drive farther to get prescriptions filled at pharmacies with less convenient hours for their hectic schedules. Walgreens offers more 24-hour and drive-thru pharmacies than any other pharmacy in the country. And patients are not seeing their costs go down in exchange for the increased hassle they’re being subject to.

To ease the burden of the patients, Walgreens is doing its part by offering special discount on annual membership for its Walgreens Prescription Savings Club. For $10 a year, a family membership covers everyone in your immediate family, including a spouse, dependents 22 and younger and pets. Individuals may join for $5. Join and receive discount prices on your prescriptions. Other benefits include savings on more than 8,000 brand-name and all generic medications; discounts on flu shots, pet prescriptions, nebulizers and diabetic supplies; bonuses when you purchase Walgreens brand products and photofinishing services.

The Dark Knight Rises in July 2012

More than six months before it's release to the widescreen, The Dark Knight Rises trailer was released last December, starring Christian Bale as Batman. The cast includes Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman. Just like the Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Returns, I think that The Dark Knight Rises will also be a blockbuster.

Chasing Pavements with Adele

Since yesterday, I've been in the mood of listening to one  song repetitively. Well, I occasionally do this since I was teenager. I won't stop until there's a new interesting thing will happen in my usually boring life. So, this time, I chose the calming voice of Adele with her Chasing Pavements. I have an mp3 in my computer, however I'll share to you the video of her guesting in The Late Show with David Letterman.

Here it is folks, enjoy!

Adgitize to Say Goodbye

Adgitize, which helped my blogs get PR2, will be closing on January 31st. According to Ken, the Adgitize admin, the decrease of advertisers and revenue prompt him to make the decision. I'm sure that many bloggers are sad with this announcement.

I was once an active advertiser and publisher in Adgitize. It was very helpful for my blogs, getting quality traffic, every day, it gave my blogs at least 40 visits, and the advertising cost was so cheap. And aside from that, you could earn back your ad cost, so it's like advertising for free. Plus, I get quality comments.

Aside from the traffic and comments that my blogs received, the most important thing was getting to know other bloggers. When Ken compensated forum posters, most of the members became active in posting in forum, that led to knowing other bloggers, and even asking and giving help to others. It was a really good community.

I'm really sad to see Adgitize go, even though  I am not active there anymore but I never thought that it will close. I hope that Ken will open a new site again for bloggers. Arrivederci, Adgitize! :(
