Charice's One Day Music Video

Don't be afraid and follow your dreams. This is the message of Charice's new music video, One Day. Just like Charice, she is also telling her fans to take chances and pursue their dreams. Charice's fans had been waiting for this video for the song "One Day",  which is co-written by Nick Jonas.

I think the video is Glee-inspired, but really beautiful and convincing. Check out the video below:

Amy Winehouse Dead

While doing my blog visits, I saw from Jullbar a post about Amy Winehouse death. The singer was found dead in her apartment in London and her death's reason is still unknown. 

Although I am not a fan of her, I heard her songs and boy, she was really talented and had a great voice. Winehouse had been in the news in the past for her drug use and public misdemeanor. I pity her for her early demise. What a waste of a talent and life. RIP Amy Winehouse.

The Smurfs Movie

Imagine a movie with Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, Glee, Project Runway, and Avatar? And imagine your old favorite cartoon characters mixed up with real people? Yeah, I'm talking about "The Smurfs".

Neil Patrick Harris, Sofia Vergara, Jayma Mays, and Tim Gun will all be together in The Smurfs, and the Avatar? Well, the Smurfs are all blue, but they've been blue even before James Cameron created Avatar, so I think it's unfair for the Smurfs to be associated with Avatar.

The Smurfs will be out in the cinema this July 29th and of course, in 3D. I don't understand the 3D fad of the movies today.

David and Victoria Beckham Showed Off Baby Girl Photos

Facebook and Twitter were the first ones to publish the first photos of David and Victoria Beckham's newly born baby girl, Harper Seven. 

 

The proud parent, David Beckham, posted in his Facebook page the black and white photo of sleeping Victoria and her baby girl, Harper Seven. "I took this picture of my two girls sleeping," he wrote on his Facebook Page.  While Victoria Beckham tweeted a photo also in black and white of her husband with Harper with the caption: "Daddy's little girl."

Japan Won FIFA Women World Cup 2011

My congratulations to the Japan Women's Football team for defeating the U.S. football team for the first time in 26 matches and for winning the World Cup! Every Japanese has a reason to celebrate and to temporarily forget the sorrow brought by the earthquake and tsunami, the Japan's team brings home the bacon and the people of Japan was their inspiration to play harder against the U.S. in the final game held in Germany last Sunday, July 17.  Go Japan!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 opens in the theaters in the Philippines yesterday, July 14, and many have anticipated the release of the final movie of Harry Potter. My kids are also bugging me of watching Harry Potter 3D, so I have been searching online for cinemas where I can book movie tickets but the kids need to wait few days since the only movie theater that shows 3D in our place is still not showing it.

Lending a Helping Hand

I am still feeling lucky to be living in a place where every one is ready to lend a helping hand when needed. Before I settled here, I was living in the city where I did not know anyone and where nobody will dare to lift a finger at you when you are in need much more when you are in danger. Right now, I feel secure that our neighbors will always be ready to help us anytime as we are to them.

Just like today, a neighbor's only child will be celebrating her 18th birthday and every one is so busy. Everyone has volunteered to be part of the preparation. My family and I sponsored the picture bags which have the picture of the debutant, and inside the bag will have the thank you gifts for the visitors. Others do the cleaning of the place and decorations, a family of good cook prepares the food, and other families are on the cake. I just imagine that this kind of preparation will be so expensive if done in the city where you need to pay everybody just to have this kind of celebration to happen.

As usual, the parents of the debutant are so happy and thankful, and for us, we are always happy to be part of the event and give helping hands.

Not Getting Sleep? Some Tips for a Goodnight Sleep

Many people suffer insomnia, most of them are those who have flexible working hours like people who work in call centers, factory, and security. I also suffer from insomnia from time to time, so I listed below some of the tips I found and heard.

1. Set the mood. The bedroom needs to have proper light, ventilation, and aroma. Dim lights are suitable and some use aromatic candles to soothe the senses. Proper ventilation is important too.  Of course the bed is really important too, make the bed according to your comfortableness. If sleeping during the day, cover the eyes with mask to avoid sunlight.

2. Wear light clothes (or Naked?). It's always better to wear light and comfortable sleeping clothes. The type of clothes worn sends the signal to the body of what kind of activity the body is up to. 

3. Freshen up. It is most likely to go to deep sleep when the body is freshen up, so a bath before going to bed is useful. It is also hygienic. 

4. Drink some warm drinks. They say that a warm milk helps to get sleep, but if you are lactose intolerant, you can try a tea with lavender or chamomile. Though many will not agree, a coffee with milk always works for me.

5. Play some music (or don't?). I don't specify what kind of music to play because some people can get better sleep with mellow music and some with rock music. So play the music that you think will put you into sleep. When sleeping in a new place, try to record the night noise from the previous place (like city noise) and play it. If you prefer a quite place then earplugs will be useful.
